I Support My Friends builds on the principles of Psychological First Aid to equip older children and adolescents with the skills and knowledge to support their friends in distress, under the mentorship and guidance of trusted adults. The four-part resource kit has been jointly developed by UNICEF, Save the Children, the MHPSS Collaborative and WHO.
The Zero Suicide Alliances offers Suicide Awareness Training, a short, free, online course that can be taken by anyone who wants to learn basic suicide awareness and prevention skills. We believe suicide is preventable and we know that sometimes all it takes to save a life is a conversation. The training is aimed at anyone aged 16 and over who wants to know what to do if they’re ever in a situation where someone they know or see may be struggling with thoughts of suicide.
Psychological First Aid (PFA) Online is 5-hour interactive online course that helps participants learn the core actions of PFA and describes ways to apply them in different post-disaster scenarios and with different survivor needs. This course also covers provider well-being before, during, and after disasters. This course is relevant for new providers who are wanting to be oriented to PFA, as well as for seasoned practitioners who want a review of the PFA concepts.
The First Aid for Stress & Trauma (FAST) course is a free, 30-minute online training that equips learners with practical skills to understand, regulate, and respond to stress, trauma, and panic. Developed by The Peaceful Heart Network and offered through DisasterReady.org, FAST teaches techniques such as trauma tapping and self-havening, helps identify signs of stress and trauma, and shows how to provide immediate psychological first aid to others. It’s designed for humanitarian workers, nonprofit staff, and anyone interested in supporting individuals facing stress and traumatic experiences.
The Psychology.org Free Online Psychology Courses page offers a curated list of no-cost online classes that help learners explore the science of human behavior, mental processes, and wellbeing.
